3 Ways Bloggers Can Use Instagram’s New Guides Feature

Instagram has been rolling out new features quite a lot lately. The popular platform is only getting stronger by the day – and though the sentiment online is quite mixed with regards to the massive amount of changes IG is rolling out, I for one am glad for the introduction of the new GUIDES feature. I see great benefit in the addition of the GUIDES feature both for my client’s accounts and own blogging platform (@LarasHappyWork). Here below are some ways I will be using the new GUIDES feature, and would recommend fellow bloggers and influencers to leverage on it:

1. Creating guides to club their go-to or fave products in one curated list

This allows for their audiences to easily find their recommendations within that guide, as opposed to have to scroll their feeds or search for specific highlights.

As an example, this would work really well if a beauty blogger wants to highlight her go-to skincare products for everyday make up. Due to this new release, my first point of action will be to ditch the “Go to make up products” carousels with long captions and substitute those with Guides.

2. Grouping posts from a specific content pillar within one guide.

I find that this is one of the most helpful ways a blogger or influencer can use guides. People may follow them for a specific topic and may only want to learn about that pillar or topic. If that indeed is the case, their followers can head to the guide dedicated to that pillar and find what they’re looking for with more ease.

For example, if movies is one of the pillars I dedicate a content bucket to on my feed – I can create a guide titled «my movie suggestions» and include all my movie suggestion posts under it. That’s actually one of the things I’ve already done with Woman’s Guide Instagram platform.

Segregating recommended areas or places into one guide

If you’re a lifestyle blogger, chances are you’ll be using this one quite heavily. Using the guides feature, lifestyle bloggers and foodies can club their favorite dining offers / outdoor restaurants and more into one guide. Again, this makes it extremely easy for people who follow you to find what they’re looking for with ease.
