If there was one person who could lead the way to all the best Netflix horror movies, it would definitely be me.
I generally love watching horror movies because of how captivated they keep me. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good comedy or romance movie too. But no movie genre can keep me as captivated and hooked as a horror movie can. A good horror movie sure gets me to put my phone aside and immerse myself in another world for a good hour and a half on most days.
Before we dive into our suggested 2020 Netflix horror movies suggestions, I’d like to set your expectations. To be blunt, I don’t like to watch meaningless horrors with no plots. When I watch a horror, I expect more than just screams and massacres. I like a good plot as would anyone who appreciates a good story – so expect my horror suggestions to bear an interesting and thought provoking story. Keep scrolling for our fave Netflix horror movies:
Annihilation
I would categorize Annihilation as a horror movie, but also a fantasy as well as a thriller. This horror / thriller movie gives you a peak into an imaginative world filled with breathtaking creations. The ending leaves you with a million questions – which is one of the things I also love about this movie so much. It makes you think! Christ Stuckmann does a great job at reviewing this movie in one of his Youtube videos. Check out his review here.
Annabelle
If you’re into all things possession, this ones for you. Most of you have probably heard of Anabelle before. You honestly can’t go wrong with this one if you like a terrifying horror to snuggle to. Watch this horror movie on Netflix now!
The Perfection
Although this movie is more on the lower key, I’ve got to say I really enjoyed it. This movie follows a troubled musical prodigy and a new star pupil as they embark down a sinister path. I personally loved how a whole other side of the story unravels mid-way.
The Invitation
Apart from being a total Girl Crush, Logan Marshall-Green played an impeccable role in this movie. If you enjoy a little mystery, this thriller will definitely keep your mind off the stress of today’s world for a good hour and a half.
Wounds
I was first sold upon hearing Dakota Johnson was in this horror movie. This film follows the life of a bartender (Dakota’s boy friend) as disturbing things begin to happen to him after an odd bar encounter. If you’re in the mood for a horror movie, this Netflix film will get the job done. It’s got just enough mystery to keep you guessing too.
Us
Ever feel something bad is going to happen before it actually does? Well that’s exactly how Adelaide Wilson felt throughout her adulthood as she carried a traumatic experience from the past. Four masked strangers, looking exactly like herself and her family soon appear at her front door validating her worst fears.
Hostel – Part 3
This Netflix horror follows four men attending a bachelor party in Las Vegas as they are enticed by two sexy escorts to join them at a private party way off the Strip. Once there, they are horrified to find themselves the subjects of a perverse game of torture. If you’ve watched the first 2 Hostel films, you’re bound to love this one. I think this is by far the scariest movie I’ve ever watched. It’s quite grotesque, so if you’re not one for the eerie details – you better stay away!
Eli
This Netflix horror takes you through a twisted turn of events. What starts out as a family caring for their ill child becomes a haunted reality. You’ll definitely want to watch this movie, if you feel like ending the night with a little thrilling terror.
A Quiet Place
You’ve probably heard quite a lot about this Netflix horror. Featuring John Krasinski and Emily Blunt, this film follows the story of a family living in a world controlled by blind but noise sensitive aliens. The family uses sign language and goes to lengths to live noise free to stay safe. It was quite enticing watching this one.
Hereditary
Hereditary definitely had to make it to my horror movies list. It’s got horror, mystery and a little bit of fantasy which I love. When the matriarch of the Graham family passes away, her daughter and grandchildren begin to unravel cryptic and increasingly terrifying secrets about their ancestry, trying to outrun the sinister fate they have inherited.
The Conjuring
This is by far one of the best Netflix Horror Movies airing in the UAE. The Perron family moves into a farmhouse where they experience paranormal phenomena. They consult demonologists, Ed and Lorraine Warren, to help them get rid of the evil entity haunting them.
The Possession Experiment
This Netflix Horror Movie follows the story of a horror-obsessed student (Chris Minor) who begins an online fund-raising campaign in an effort to show the world his study on exorcisms.
Clinical
Clinical is one of those movies you’ve got to watch if you like thought provoking horrors. After being traumatized when a patient violently attacks her, a psychiatrist (Vinessa Shaw) tries to repair her life by helping a new patient who has his own terrifying history.
Jigsaw
I am an avid fan of Jigsaw. I know, creepy. I’ve literally watched all nine feature films. As you can expect, the first one is always the best one – but that’s not the one that’s available on Netflix (you want might to stream it). In all nine feature films, the plot always follows a group of people who find themselves forced to participate in a series of deadly “games” that Jigsaw (the criminal) curates based on what he feels every victim deserves. Definitely worth the watch!
Get Out
If you enjoy a little exaggeration, you better watch this one! Chris, an African-American man, decides to visit his Caucasian girlfriend’s parents during a weekend getaway. Although they seem normal at first, he is not prepared to experience the horrors ahead.
