A note from Lara Geadah, Founder of Woman’s Guide Middle East on why we got started

In today’s article, Founder and Editor at Woman’s Guide Middle East, Lara Geadah, reflects on why she decided to launch Woman’s Guide Middle East during a global pandemic.

“Apart from having more time on my hands to pursue my passion, I saw a real opportunity in the industry.

The world as we know it was changing. To quote the restaurant manager at one of my favorite restaurants, guests that were ordering champagne bottles were now ordering a glass of wine. The it-list that had all the spending power didn’t seem to have access to the same luxuries of the world, pre-pandemic.

The small share of the UAE who were buying LVs and Porsches became even smaller and smaller. And yet, as a target audience they were still being targeted by outlets and brands worldwide. Why though? It made me wonder about the sustainability of this strategy.

Those were the kinds of questions that came up while I was browsing through outlets and websites.

Meanwhile, I was looking for a new challenge. I wanted to create something different and be remembered for it.

And the rest was history. I decided to create a community portal that targeted the Middle Eastern woman of today, who enjoys the finer things in life – but on a budget. Who loves to indulge in a champagne breakfast – but only on occasions. She is the modern woman, re-invented post Covid-19.

Expat women in the UAE come to this country for work and to make something of themselves. We’re not here to spend all our money, but we do want to stop to smell the roses while we hustle. Dubai has become our beautiful home, and we want to treat ourselves every once in a while.

That said, this portal is targeting that woman. As I write every article, it feels as though I am writing it as a note to myself. Because I too, am that woman.

I work hard, I earn a living and I know the value of money. But that doesn’t stop me from treating myself to the salon, a fancy dinner or a spa massage. It’s all part of that journey.

Through Woman’s Guide Middle East, I aim to show true and genuine representation of women in the Middle East. I want to truly guide women in the region by showing them the fitness coaches, the make up artists, the entrepreneurs – everyone. I love that diversity and I want to share it with the world – through Woman’s Guide Middle East. So they too know, they can be whoever they want to be.”

The future is bright and beautiful, and I’m very excited for what’s to come.
